Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, has made a significant remark about the Indian cricket team’s prospects for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Cricket will return to the Olympic Games in 2028 after a 128-year absence.
The 2028 Olympics will take place in Los Angeles, USA. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially approved cricket as one of the five sports featured in the LA Games.

During a chat with renowned sports journalist Boria Majumdar, Jay Shah expected India to win two medals in cricket in the Los Angeles Olympic Games 2028. Shah expects both Indian men’s and women’s teams to bring the medals home. Boria Majumdar revealed the whole conversation between him and Jay Shah.
“How many medals do you think we can win this time?” Shah asked Boria as quoted by Revsportz.
“At Los Angeles in 2028, cricket will add two medals to our tally. I expect the women and men’s team to have a shot at gold,” Shah told Boria Majumdar.Shah was present at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. He later added that he wanted to see an Indian win a medal at the Paris Olympics before he left.
“I leave in a day but would want to see an Indian win. It just makes you so very proud of who you are and gives you hope that India can do it on the big stage. I was keen to promote cricket here in Paris, and with its inclusion in Los Angeles, it should help the Indian cause,” said Shah.
India a probable medal contender in Cricket in LA 2028 Olympics
India is currently participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics, with a delegation of 117 athletes competing across various sports.
The inclusion of cricket in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games significantly enhances India’s medal prospects. Known as a cricketing powerhouse, India boasts one of the top teams in the sport, and its men’s cricket team is among the most followed globally.
Cricket will be played in its T20 format at the LA 2028 Olympics. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has long aimed to incorporate cricket into the Olympics to boost the sport’s global appeal. Recently, the USA successfully hosted the T20 World Cup 2024, and with cricket gaining traction in the US, the LA 2028 Games are expected to further elevate the sport’s profile.
