Michael Vaughan took to social media to poke fun at Australia’s performance in the sport of ‘Breaking.’ “Nice to know Australia are terrible at one sport … Break dancing … 😜😜,” Vaughan posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Vaughan was commenting on Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, better known as ‘Raygun,’ who captivated the audience with her highly entertaining routine. However, her unconventional dance moves didn’t quite win over the judges, leading to an unfavorable decision.
Raygun’s performance at the Paris Olympics 2024 was outstanding.
Raygun finished 16th in the competition, with Japan’s Ami Yuasa clinching the gold, Lithuania’s Dominika Banevič taking the silver, and Liu Qingyi from China earning the bronze.
Interestingly, Rachael Gunn lost to Dominika Banevič, who eventually secured the silver medal. Despite her lower placement, Raygun became a social media sensation, with her unique dance moves generating a mix of amusement and admiration. Some viewers found her performance humorous for such a high-profile event, while others praised her boldness and confidence.
At 36, Raygun is a college professor from Australia. Her distinctive ‘Kangaroo’ moves, reflecting Australia’s national symbol, went viral online. While some found them amusing, many appreciated her spirited representation of her country’s heritage on the global stage.

Michael Vaughan has a history of trolling Australia. Before the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE, Vaughan downplayed Australia’s chances and predicted victories for teams like England, India, Pakistan, West Indies, and New Zealand instead. However, Australia defied expectations by winning the title against New Zealand, prompting Australian spinner Adam Zampa to troll Vaughan after their victory.
Vaughan also stirred the pot after England’s T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final loss to India, suggesting that India’s success was due to the favorable spinning pitches. In response, Indian offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin cheekily used calculus to retort, posting a mathematical formula on X to underline India’s win.
