Nitish Reddy father touched Gavaskar feet

Mutyala Reddy, met cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar a day after his son’s memorable century in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia. In a touching moment, Mutyala Reddy was seen touching Gavaskar’s feet, leaving the legend visibly moved.

Nitish, who walked out to bat after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal on Day 3 of the fourth Test on December 28, reached his half-century in the second session. He later celebrated his maiden Test century with a boundary, dedicating the milestone to his father.

In a video that’s quickly going viral, Mutyala Reddy is seen touching the feet of cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar. Mutyala, who left his government job to support his son’s cricket career, was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Gavaskar warmly acknowledged the Reddy family, greeting them with folded hands.

Gavaskar became visibly emotional while speaking to Nitish Kumar Reddy’s parents, acknowledging the immense sacrifices they had made. He expressed that Indian cricket had gained a true gem in Nitish, thanks to their unwavering support and dedication.

”Mujhe maloom hai aap logo kitna sactfice kiya hai. Aapki wajah se mere aankhon mey aansu aa rahe they. Aapke wajah se Bharat ko ye heera mila hai (We know how much he has sacrificed. He has struggled a lot. Because of you, I am tearing up. Because of you, India has got a diamond, Indian cricket has got a diamond,” said Gavaskar.

Nitish’s sister, Tejaswi Reddy, translated for their mother, who was deeply overwhelmed by the experience of meeting cricket legends. Tejaswi shared that her mother had never imagined being in such a moment and found it hard to put her emotions into words.

“She never imagined that she will be in this place with these legends. She is unable to express her feeling. She is unable to believe even now that my brother is playing at such a big ground and has played such a big inning,” Tejaswi Reddy said.

When Sunil Gavaskar asked Tejaswi if Nitish had ever troubled her, she joked that their sibling bond was like a “Tom and Jerry” relationship. Tejaswi proudly shared that Nitish had always promised to make the family proud, and his century in the match was the moment he had finally fulfilled that promise.

Tejaswi said “Of Course sir! Brother sister bond is like that. It has always been a Tom and Jerry kind of bond. We love each other. We don’t usually show it much but we do love each other. I am a very very proud sister. He always used to say that I will make you all proud one day and yesterday was that day.”

Tejaswi Reddy, translating for her father, shared that he was expressing heartfelt thanks to everyone by name for their support. She added that it was through Nitish’s hard work and dedication that the family had reached this incredible moment.

“My father is very happy. He is thanking everyone name by name. Because of everyone we are here, because of Nitish we are here. We’ll always be thankful to everyone,” Tejaswi said.
