The PCB has announced that the upcoming tri-nation ODI series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, will now be played in Lahore and Karachi instead of Multan. The matches will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, both of which are undergoing major upgrades ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The Gaddafi Stadium, in particular, has undergone a major facelift, expanding its capacity to 35,000 with new, comfortable seating and state-of-the-art broadcasting enhancements, including 480 LED lights and two giant digital screens.
Meanwhile, the National Bank Stadium in Karachi has also seen improvements, with 350 new LED lights, additional seating for 5,000 fans, and a revamped hospitality area to offer an enhanced experience for spectators and officials.

An ICC delegation has arrived in Karachi to review preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy, which is set to kick off on February 19. The team will visit the National Stadium to assess the ongoing construction work, including a close look at the five-story building currently under development.
They will also evaluate various sections of the stadium to ensure all aspects are ready for the tournament. The opening ceremony will be held at the National Stadium, followed by the first match between Pakistan and New Zealand. The stadium is slated to host three matches during the event.
This visit marks the latest in a series of inspections aimed at ensuring the event runs smoothly. Previous visits included assessments by ICC’s security head David Maskell, Senior Manager of Event Operations Sarah Edgar, Manager Aun Zaidi, and Broadcasting Supervisor Mansoor Minch, all of whom have worked closely to ensure everything is on track for the prestigious tournament.
PCB Shifts Tri-Nation Matches
The opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy will be held at the National Stadium, followed by the highly anticipated first match between Pakistan and New Zealand on the same day. The stadium is set to host three matches during the tournament.
This inspection is the latest in a series of visits aimed at ensuring the event’s smooth execution. The initial visit was conducted by ICC’s security head, David Maskell, to review safety measures. This was followed by a second visit led by Senior Manager of Event Operations Sarah Edgar and Manager Aun Zaidi, who evaluated overall preparations.
The third visit was conducted by Aun Zaidi, accompanied by Broadcasting Supervisor Mansoor Minch, to assess broadcast facilities and technical requirements ahead of the tournament.
