Following KKR’s title win on Sunday, May 26, Venkatesh Iyer expressed that Alyssa Healy is his preferred Australian personality presently. He subsequently opted to rank Starc in the second position.
After KKR’s victory against SRH on Sunday, May 26, Venkatesh Iyer made a notable decision to favor Alyssa Healy over Mitchell Starc, her spouse, labeling her as his current favorite Australian personality. Healy, currently serving as the captain of the Australian women’s cricket team, had joined the KKR camp during the tournament’s midpoint.
In his post-title win remarks, Venkatesh’s statement elicited laughter from Starc, who jokingly feigned walking away. The KKR batsman mentioned that Healy, who had to depart before the final, had conveyed her well wishes to the team before Sunday’s match.
“Alyssa is my most favourite Australian right now and not Mitch Starc. He is No.2.”
“It’s good to have your family around on such a big occasion. Unfortunately, Alyssa had to leave. We spoke with her before the game and she sent across her wishes,” said Venkatesh.
Starc said that it was great to have the families around and the success was down to their support in the end.
“We have got the families out here. The extended staff and rest had messages of support before we left the hotel. We had a lot of them around for the tournament. All of this is because of their support,” said Starc.
Starc remarked that the dynamics of his IPL 2024 experience shifted once Healy joined him in India for the tournament.
“Everything’s been better since Alyssa has turned up,” Starc told Star Sports.
Following a sluggish start, Starc surged in performance during the crucial phase of the season, securing the Player of the Match accolades in Qualifier 1 and the final against SRH. Despite being the most expensive player in IPL auction history, Starc ended up with a commendable tally of 17 wickets in his comeback season.
