“Sourav Ganguly has shared his formula for India to tackle pressure and triumph at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.”
The Indian cricket team, captained by Rohit Sharma, is set to commence their T20 World Cup journey in the USA and West Indies starting June 5. Placed in Group A alongside rivals Pakistan, as well as Ireland, Canada, and co-host USA, India eyes their third ICC title in the past year.
In 2023, Rohit Sharma’s squad endured defeats in the World Test Championship final and the 50-over World Cup final, both times to Pat Cummins’ Australian team. With the T20 World Cup beginning tomorrow, Rohit aims to avert a similar fate.
Leading up to India’s group stage matches beginning June 5, Sourav Ganguly has unveiled his strategic mantra.
Sourav Ganguly imparts unique counsel to Rahul Dravid.
In a one-on-one interview with RevSportz, Sourav Ganguly offered a valuable piece of guidance to his former teammate and current head coach, Rahul Dravid. Dravid’s commendable efforts in shaping the Indian team during his three-year tenure, which commenced in 2021, have earned recognition not only from Ganguly but from the entire nation.
Guiding the team to two ICC finals, Rahul Dravid’s coaching legacy is notable, though victories eluded him. Despite this, he’s hailed as one of the premier coaches. As he prepares for his final stint with India, Sourav Ganguly advises Dravid to embrace a more relaxed approach for the upcoming World Cup.
“If I can say something to Rahul [Dravid] and, make no mistake, he is a champion cricketer and cricket brain, it will be to relax a little.” – Sourav Ganguly said via RevSportz.
Sourav Ganguly elaborates on his desire for the Indian camp to adopt a relaxed approach.
Sourav Ganguly emphasized a common mistake made by Indian fans during national team competitions, citing an incident involving Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wives displaying tension by crossing their fingers during matches. Ganguly believes such pressure shouldn’t be exerted.
The Prince of Kolkata asserted that Indian fans tend to excessively push the team, reminiscent of the 2003 World Cup. Thus, Ganguly’s simple mantra is to maintain relaxation in crucial matches and play with freedom.
“When I see Rohit’s wife in the stands, it is evident how much pressure she is under. When I see Virat’s wife, I see the kind of pressure she is feeling. We in India make the mistake of pushing too much. I think back to the 2003 [World Cup] final, for example. If anything, we need to relax when we are playing the big games. Just play with freedom.” – Sourav Ganguly concluded.
India set to face off against Bangladesh today.
Tonight, Rohit Sharma’s team is poised to take on neighboring Bangladesh in their solitary warm-up match for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The game kicks off at 8:00 PM (IST) at Nassau County Stadium in New York.
