Following Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s dissatisfaction with the team’s distant accommodation from the ground, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly arranged for the Pakistan team’s hotel to be relocated closer to the stadium, as per sources from Geo News.
Sources from Geo News revealed that Naqvi reached out to the ICC expressing his discontent and successfully persuaded the World Cup management team to relocate the Pakistan team’s hotel.
Following the intervention by the PCB chief, Pakistan’s team accommodation has been relocated to a mere five-minute distance from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Earlier reports from Geo News indicated that the hotel was situated 90 minutes away from the venue.
The Men in Green are scheduled to contest their two Group A matches at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, facing off against India on June 9 and Canada on June 11.
Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team is determined to secure their first T20 World Cup title since the inaugural edition in 2007. India commenced their campaign with a convincing victory against Ireland on Wednesday, displaying a comprehensive all-round performance to clinch an emphatic eight-wicket win.
Pakistan is set to kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against co-hosts the USA on Thursday in Dallas. In the previous tournament edition, India emerged victorious against their neighbors with the remarkable performance of Virat Kohli.
Since the tournament’s inception, India and Pakistan have crossed paths seven times. The Indian team has secured victory over their arch-rivals five times, suffered one defeat, and had one match end in a tie.
The highly anticipated clash between the two rivals is scheduled for Sunday in New York, promising to add another compelling chapter to their historic rivalry.
