Ahead of the highly anticipated showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup, scheduled for June 9 at the Nassau County International Stadium, India’s standout all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, maintains his excitement while staying grounded amidst the hype surrounding the match.
With his proficiency in both pace bowling and batting, Pandya is poised to be a key figure in India’s quest for an ICC title, particularly in the clash against Pakistan. He embraces the challenge of performing in high-stakes encounters and is prepared to shoulder the responsibilities that come with it.
“Standing in big games is very exciting for me. I find it extra special and Pakistan has been one team where I have been very fortunate, I have been able to do well in a lot of games,” Pandya told ‘Star Sports’.
Addressing the eagerly anticipated showdown, Pandya views the upcoming match as a historic event, marking the first time such a significant encounter will be held in the Americas.
“It all comes down to the vibe. Hold your breath, this is a request. This is not a fight, this is going to be history,” said Pandya.
Amidst the anticipation surrounding the high-profile clash between two rival nations, Pandya emphasizes the importance of discipline and staying focused on the team’s objectives.
Pandya said, “India-Pakistan has always been very exciting, a lot of cheer and buzz, a lot of emotion and a lot of excitement but at the same time, I hope we will be disciplined in that game, one goal as a group is we go and kind of hunt”.
“So, if we can do that, I think it will be one more nice day for us,” he added.
Both teams have begun their campaigns with notably different performances.
India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, displayed a clinical performance against Ireland, securing their first points in the group stage. In contrast, Pakistan, captained by Babar Azam, began their campaign with a narrow defeat against co-hosts USA in a Super Over.
With both teams eager to claim the title, a victory in the IND vs PAK match will undoubtedly bolster their prospects.
