The competition for the semi-final berths is intensifying after the completion of the second round of matches in Super Eight Group 2 at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

South Africa leads the standings with four points, securing victories against USA and England in their initial encounters. Following closely behind are the West Indies with one win, while England also holds two points. South Africa holds a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.625, with the West Indies at +1.814 and England at +0.412. The United States is positioned at the bottom of the table without any points, sporting an NRR of -2.908, and their chances of progressing to the tournament’s final four are now non-existent.

Semi-Final matchups for the 2024 T20 World Cup:

In the upcoming final round of group matches, the schedule includes a clash between West Indies and South Africa, as well as a game featuring England against USA.

In the WI vs SA scenario:
– A victory for South Africa guarantees their spot in the semi-finals.
– A win for West Indies ensures their qualification for the semi-finals.

In the USA vs ENG scenarios:

– If England defeats USA and West Indies triumphs over South Africa, the team with the superior Net Run Rate (NRR) between England and South Africa will advance to the semi-finals.
– If England defeats USA and South Africa defeats West Indies, again, the team with the better NRR between England and South Africa will qualify for the semi-finals.
– If USA defeats England and West Indies defeats South Africa, qualification for the semi-finals will be determined by NRR.
– If USA defeats England and South Africa defeats West Indies, NRR will also decide which team advances to the semi-finals.

Despite being undefeated in the tournament thus far, South Africa could face elimination with just one loss, particularly if they are heavily defeated by West Indies and England secures a significant victory over USA.

The first semi-final is scheduled for June 27 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, while the second semi-final will follow later on the same day at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

The final of the 2024 T20 World Cup is set to take place at Bridgetown’s Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29th.
