Rohit Sharma’s India secured their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, setting up a showdown with South Africa. The team showcased dominance from the outset, with Rohit’s explosive batting and a stellar performance from bowlers Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav crushing the defending champions.
In a notable incident during the second innings, England’s Liam Livingstone and Jofra Archer were involved in a heated exchange. In the 15th over, miscommunication between Archer and Livingstone resulted in Livingstone being run out. The comical error left Livingstone visibly frustrated, contrasting with the jubilation among Indian players and fans. The Indian Cricket Team’s official Instagram shared the video of the dismissal, prompting varied reactions from fans.
Numerous fans expressed that India had exacted their revenge for the 2022 World Cup semi-final against England. One supporter commented, “Ever heard of perfect revenge? England defeated India by 10 wickets in the 2022 Semi Final. India took all 10 wickets of England in the 2024 Semi Final.”
Another jokingly said, “Kuldeep and Axar Patel came out of the syllabus for England!!”
“Revenge successfully completed,” wrote one.
Another wrote, “England is successfully qualified for airport”.
“Last time England chased in 17th over, this time England all out in 17th over,” commented one more.
Axar Patel took charge of the bowling duties when Liam Livingstone was dismissed. Axar delivered a flat, well-pitched ball that angled towards the batsman. Jofra Archer attempted a forceful stroke, but the ball nicked the inside edge and rolled towards short fine leg. Despite Livingstone calling for a single, Archer declined and turned away.
Unfortunately, Livingstone had already committed to the run, advancing halfway down the pitch. Kuldeep Yadav swiftly retrieved the ball and returned it to Axar. With Livingstone struggling to regain his crease, Axar Patel efficiently removed the bails, sealing the run-out.
