Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite not featuring in any matches during India’s T20 World Cup triumph, quickly found his rhythm upon arriving in Zimbabwe for the ongoing five-match T20I series in Harare.

In his debut match of the tour, Jaiswal made a promising start with 36 runs off 27 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Undeterred by missed opportunities, he bounced back emphatically in the 4th T20I, smashing an unbeaten 93 off 53 deliveries. His aggressive innings featured 13 boundaries and two sixes, playing a pivotal role in India’s dominant 10-wicket victory to secure a 3-1 series lead against Zimbabwe.

Following the match, Jaiswal fielded questions from Indian fans who attended the game at the Harare Sports Club.

When questioned about how he maintained his form despite not having played competitive cricket since IPL 2024, Jaiswal replied, “I enjoyed my process and being a part of the World Cup champion team and I learnt a lot. I was really excited. Whenever I get a chance I try my best and make sure that I am contributing for the team and winning the games for my team.”

Jaiswal emphasized the significance of playing domestic cricket for every player, highlighting its role in preparing them to perform at the international level.

“Of course, domestic cricket helps a lot. It prepares you for matches, they are really important for us. We enjoy playing domestic cricket,” Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal and Shubman Gill (58*) combined for an unbroken opening partnership of 165 runs.

“We were only thinking about finishing the game and make sure that the team wins and we finish without any loss (of a wicket). The only thing in the mind was to finish the game without any loss,” Jaiswal said.

“I really enjoyed playing today, it was an amazing experience with Shubman bhai and I really enjoyed scoring the runs. Whenever I play for India I really enjoy and feel proud,” he added.
