India wrapped up their Zimbabwe tour on Sunday with a commanding 4-1 victory in the five-match T20I series, led by captain Shubman Gill and his youthful squad. The post-match festivities saw the recognition of outstanding fielding performances, with Ravi Bishnoi and Rinku Singh emerging as strong contenders for the ‘fielder of the series’ award.
Reflecting on the tour, Subhadeep Ghosh, the fielding coach accompanying the team, emphasized the pivotal role of catching in determining the course of a match.
“As I always say, catching is very, very important. If you take the catches, you can control the game, you can dominate the game, which we did today,” Ghosh said before announcing the winner.
Rinku Singh edged out Bishnoi for the award, prompting a humorous reaction from captain Gill, who jokingly teased the young spinner.
“Every time he (Rinku) steps on the ground I think he always says high standard,” Ghosh said.

“First of all, God’s Plan! It was a pleasure playing with you. To be honest, I like fielding more than batting,” he said.
“There was a brief cameo from the incumbent fielding coach T Dilip too who sent a video message to the India squad. “Boys, fielding has always been a paramount to us in Indian cricket and its an aspect of the game where we have set high standards over the years. We should aim to continue to strive for excellence in this area,” he said.
India’s upcoming schedule includes a series against Sri Lanka starting later this month, featuring three T20Is and three ODIs between the two teams.
