Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, is yet to finalize his decision on whether he will be participating in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka next month. Considering the limited number of ODIs before the Champions Trophy early next year, there is speculation that Rohit Sharma may choose to make himself available for the series.
Gautam Gambhir recently emphasized the importance of players being accessible across all formats. According to a report from Cricbuzz, Rohit Sharma is likely to be part of the three ODIs scheduled for August. Confirmation of his availability is expected before the BCCI’s upcoming online meeting on Wednesday, July 17.
The 37-year-old batsman is set to lead the ODI team in the series. Should Rohit opt out, KL Rahul could potentially take over the captaincy for the Indian team during these ODIs. Additionally, Hardik Pandya might also miss out on the Sri Lanka ODIs, while Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli are not anticipated to be part of the squad.
