The BCCI selection committee is contemplating the inclusion of promising young all-rounder Riyan Parag in the squad for the forthcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Despite the return of senior cricketers to the team following a brief hiatus from international cricket, Parag stands a chance to secure a spot.
Parag earned his maiden national team call-up during the recent five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, where he made his international debut in the opening match. Despite a modest performance, scoring just two runs from three deliveries, he was omitted from the XI for the subsequent matches. However, he returned for the final game of the series, contributing 22 runs off 24 balls.
According to reports from the Indian Express, Parag is expected to maintain his position in the T20I squad for the upcoming series in Sri Lanka. Additionally, selectors are inclined to include him in the ODI squad, acknowledging his potential contributions with the ball as a part-time bowler.
