Rohit Sharma dislikes facing me in nets: Mohammed Shami reveals secrets
In a candid moment on a chat show with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Mohammed Shami disclosed that he strikes fear into every Indian player during net sessions. Specifically, Shami mentioned that skipper Rohit Sharma is notably reluctant to face him in practice sessions.
“I have a healthy competition with Virat Kohli. We like to challenge each other. He likes to hit me and I like to dismiss him. So there is a friendship and bonding with Virat Kohli”, the Indian pacer said in Hindi.
“It takes effort and increases our focus and interests. And we enjoy such things. But Rohit Sharma also rejects facing me. He always says, ‘I don’t wanna face him’, he further added.
The video was shared on Twitter (X) with the caption- “Nobody likes facing Mohammed Shami in the Indian nets. Rohit Sharma toh Nets mein muje Avoid karta hai. Virat Kohli aur main ek doosrey se Nets mein Healthy Competition rakhtey hain”. Have a look at the complete video below.
Mohammed Shami has been sidelined from action for nearly 8 months, having last played in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. His absence due to injury meant he missed crucial events such as the India vs Afghanistan series, IPL 2024, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Representing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, Shami’s rehabilitation kept him out of contention for selection in the T20 World Cup.
During this period, the pace bowling responsibilities for Team India in major tournaments fell primarily on Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj, who played pivotal roles in the ICC events.
