Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in talks with NCA Head VVS Laxman for coaching position ahead of the IPL 2025
Speculation surrounds VVS Laxman’s future at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with indications suggesting he might not seek an extension. Despite being BCCI’s preferred candidate to succeed Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Laxman declined the opportunity due to concerns over extensive travel commitments.
According to a report in the Times of India, there is interest from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in bringing Laxman into their coaching staff ahead of the 2025 IPL season. Informal discussions have reportedly taken place between LSG management and Laxman regarding a potential role, although no formal agreement has been reached yet.
It is being said that Laxman is not keen on extending his tenure at the NCA, especially after relocating from Hyderabad. He has been receiving offers from various franchises for some time now.
Notably, Laxman has often stepped in for Dravid, serving as India’s interim head coach in several series. His most recent assignment was against Zimbabwe, where the Men in Blue won the five-match T20I series 4-1.
