On Tuesday, August 27, star Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer made an appearance for Mumbai in their Buchi Babu Trophy match against TNCA XI at the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science cricket ground, even taking on bowling duties.
A video that has gone viral shows the 29-year-old cricketer imitating the bowling action of his Kolkata Knight Riders teammate, Sunil Narine, during the 90th over of TNCA XI’s first innings. Despite not being a regular bowler, Iyer’s mimicry has captured widespread attention online.
Iyer gave away seven runs in his sole over on the first day of play, as TNCA XI closed the day with a total of 294 for the loss of five wickets. For the home team, Pradosh Paul, captain Baba Indrajith, and Boopathi Vaishna Kumar contributed with scores of 65, 61, and 63 runs, respectively.
