Afghanistan achieved a historic milestone by reaching the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup for the first time ever. They secured an 8-run victory over Bangladesh at Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent on Tuesday. This win not only advanced them to the next stage but also eliminated Australia and Bangladesh from the tournament.
Despite scoring a modest 115-5 after choosing to bat first, Afghanistan’s bowlers defended their total brilliantly. They dismissed Bangladesh for 105 runs with just seven balls remaining, sealing a tense and memorable triumph.
In the semi-finals, Afghanistan will face South Africa, while England will take on India in the other match.
