Amul’s topical ads are immensely popular on Indian social media. Their latest creation pays a heartfelt tribute to Rahul Dravid, the outgoing coach of the Indian cricket team. Known as the ‘Wall of Indian Cricket’, Dravid concluded his coaching tenure on a high note with India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. Amul’s post celebrating this achievement features a clever caption, showcasing their skillful wordplay.
The post featured an animated version of Rahul Dravid celebrating Team India’s triumph while holding the prized T20 World Cup trophy. “Aapki aur team ki khoob Jammy,” read the post shared along with a doodle. “Amul, calm ho gaya,” the post further read. For the caption, Amul opted for, “Rahul Dravid retires as coach of the Indian team on a triumphant note.”
Known affectionately as ‘Jammy,’ Rahul Dravid has been a stalwart of Indian cricket, excelling both as a player and coach. According to a PTI report, Dravid’s nickname stems from his father’s association with Kissan, renowned for its jam production. This connection likely led to him being called ‘Jammy’ by his peers at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School.
Amul has previously engaged with Rahul Dravid in memorable ways. When Dravid appeared in an intense avatar for a CRED advertisement, Amul reacted with humor, stating, “Jammy is raging, Butter is calming,” and playfully advising, “Amul, take a deep breath.”
Returning to the action on the field, Rahul Dravid’s coaching led the Indian team to an undefeated streak in the T20 World Cup 2024, culminating in their second championship title. India triumphed over South Africa in the final on June 29, winning by a margin of 7 runs.
