After clinching the T20 World Cup 2024 title in Barbados, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh shared a heartwarming moment with his parents. As India celebrated their victory over South Africa in the final, emotions ran high among the players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, who were visibly moved to tears.
Arshdeep, visibly emotional himself, was captured handing his winner’s medal to his father. Later, he placed the medal into his mother’s hands for a cherished photograph.
The video sparked a flurry of responses from users across social media platforms.
One user reflected on the immense sacrifices Arshdeep’s family must have made for his journey to success. “I know how much struggle Arshdeep’s family did for him. How many sacrifices they had made. He was just a small naughty boy when I met him. Now the pride of India,” read the comment.
“It was a dream for Arshdeep to win the World Cup and to wear his World Cup medal was a special moment for all of us too,” the star bowler’s mother told The Indian Express.
Arshdeep’s father said, “Arshdeep is happy to play his part in getting the second winning star on the T20 World Cup Indian team jersey. It’s just a start for Arshdeep and like the whole of India, we are overjoyed.”
Arshdeep Singh has now accumulated 79 wickets in T20Is from 52 matches, including his recent 17-wicket haul.
