Arshdeep Singh showcased stellar performance for India during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, playing a pivotal role in ending India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. Throughout the tournament held in the West Indies and USA, Arshdeep impressed with 17 wickets in eight matches, tying as the top wicket-taker alongside Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi. His achievement equaled Farooqi’s world record for the most wickets in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
Following India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup, their first in 17 years, Arshdeep took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (July 3) to share a heartfelt post honoring Indian coach Rahul Dravid. Accompanied by a photo of himself with Dravid, Arshdeep captioned the post, “2018–2024: Thank you for everything coach saab.”
Arshdeep shared a picture on Instagram where he is seen posing with the U-19 World Cup trophy on the left and the T20 World Cup trophy on the right.
Arshdeep Singh’s post for Rahul Dravid
Arshdeep Singh was a key member of the Indian U-19 team that clinched the World Cup under Rahul Dravid’s coaching in 2018. Making his T20I debut against England in July 2022, the 25-year-old left-arm pacer has since established himself as a crucial player in India’s T20I squad, amassing 79 wickets in 52 matches.
The 2024 T20 World Cup marked the conclusion of Dravid’s tenure as India’s head coach. Taking over in 2021 after the T20 World Cup in the UAE, Dravid guided India to significant achievements across all formats. Under his guidance, India achieved the top rank in Test, ODI, and T20I cricket. He led the team to victory in the Asia Cup 2023 and secured final berths in the 2023 World Test Championship and the 2023 ODI World Cup. Finally, in his last assignment, Dravid coached India to their first ICC trophy in 11 years.
As India prepares for the Sri Lanka tour later this month, a new head coach will assume charge of the team.
