Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam, offered solace to Azam Khan following the latter’s disappointing performance in the fourth T20I against England. Khan, who is on the brink of his T20 World Cup debut, struggled to make an impact throughout the series in England. In the final match at the Oval, Khan endured a duck with the bat and missed a couple of straightforward catches.
Post-match, Khan appeared visibly disheartened. Upon noticing Khan standing alone, Babar Azam approached him. With a supportive gesture, Babar placed his arm around Khan and shared some encouraging words, captured beautifully by the broadcaster’s camera.
Sharing the footage, a fan wrote on X, “I’m so glad to see this video that “Babar” backs “Azam Khan” after yesterday’s performance. This is the quality of a pure leader.”
Pakistan failed to deliver any notable performances in their last preparation match before the T20 World Cup. Apart from Azam Khan, the rest of the middle-order batsmen seemed lackluster throughout the series against England. The opening T20I of the four-match series was called off due to rain. England asserted their dominance in the second match, securing a 27-run victory. The third T20I also fell victim to adverse weather conditions, resulting in a washout.
In the recent game, Pakistan suffered a batting collapse, managing to score only 157 runs. England successfully chased down the target in 15.3 overs, losing merely three wickets in the process. The Babar Azam-led Pakistani team is scheduled to commence their T20 World Cup journey with a match against the USA on June 6th.
