The BCCI secretary has posted a video capturing the vibrant celebrations in Mumbai following the Indian cricket team’s return from Barbados, proudly displaying the T20 World Cup trophy.
The footage opens with the team bus making its way through cheering fans, adorned with the ICC trophy. As night fell, scenes unfolded of Indian players jubilantly raising the trophy amidst the enthusiastic crowd.
Highlighting stars such as Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya, the video also features India’s head coach Rahul Dravid, seen waving the national flag in a touching moment of pride and celebration.
“JAI HIND,” Shah captioned the post.
Since taking on the role of BCCI secretary in 2019, Shah has played a crucial role within the organization.
Shah notably forecasted that Rohit Sharma and his team would triumph at the T20 World Cup held in Barbados.
“Everybody had been waiting for my statement on the World Cup. In 2023, India did not win the World Cup after winning 10 matches straight, but we won hearts. But I want to make a promise that in 2024, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India will win the T20 World Cup in Barbados,” He made this statement just before the third Test between India and England earlier this year in February, when the SCA Stadium in Rajkot was renamed as the Niranjan Shah Stadium.
Rohit Sharma’s leadership led India to fulfill Shah’s prediction, securing their second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final.
