India made history by clinching the title in the second edition of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, held in Malaysia. The girls in blue triumphed over a determined South African side, who had been unbeaten until the final, mirroring India’s perfect run in the tournament.
Following their victory, congratulations poured in from all corners of the globe. In recognition of their remarkable achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a substantial cash reward for the team.
BCCI Unveils Huge Cash Reward for India’s Victory
The BCCI sent its heartfelt congratulations to the young champions and declared a generous cash reward of INR 5 Crore for the victorious India Under-19 women’s team, along with the support staff, which was expertly led by head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer.
With this victory, India not only won the second edition of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup but also successfully defended their title. The team had previously claimed the inaugural championship in 2023, held in South Africa, under the leadership of Shafali Verma.
This marks India’s second ICC title in women’s cricket, both of which have come at the junior level. It’s a testament to the immense depth of talent the country currently has in cricket, across both the men’s and women’s game.
India’s Spinners Lead the Way in Dominant Final Victory
India delivered a commanding performance in the final, from the very first ball. Entering the match as the dominant force, they were right on the money from the outset. South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first, hoping to put pressure on India in the final.
But India’s bowlers had other plans. The Proteas began with 10 runs off the first over, and it seemed like Jemma Botha was on the verge of something special. However, the momentum shifted when Parunika Sisodia took the crucial first wicket, dismissing Simone Lourens. It was exactly the breakthrough India needed.

Fast bowler Shabnam Shakil then sent Botha packing for 16, further denting South Africa’s hopes. From that point on, their innings never regained its footing. A brief 30-run partnership for the sixth wicket briefly raised hopes of reaching 120, but that was quickly snuffed out when allrounder Gongadi Trisha dismissed Mieke van Voorst for 23 off 18 balls.
South Africa could only muster 8 more runs before being bundled out for a mere 82. The Indian spinners were brilliant, claiming nine of the ten wickets, turning the final into a one-sided affair.
