In anticipation of a large gathering of cricket enthusiasts welcoming the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team to Delhi on Thursday, police officials have implemented comprehensive security measures. These measures cover both the IGI Airport, where the team is scheduled to arrive around 6 am from Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport via a chartered flight, and the ITC Maurya Hotel where they will halt.
Senior police officers have arranged escort vehicles with armed personnel to accompany the team from the airport to the hotel. Additionally, adequate police forces, including two companies of paramilitary personnel, are stationed along the routes from the airport to the hotel and in central Delhi.
Authorities are prepared for potential gatherings of cricket fans along these routes and outside the hotel, expected to cheer and welcome Team India for their remarkable victory in the T20 World Cup.
After their arrival, the team is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 am at his residence before returning to the hotel. Subsequently, they are set to depart for Mumbai at 4 pm, where they will participate in an open bus road show and attend a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium.
