Former India batsman Dinesh Karthik has lauded Jasprit Bumrah as the world’s premier all-format bowler following his stellar performances in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Bumrah, who missed the previous T20 World Cup due to injury, showcased his immense value to the Indian team throughout the tournament. Despite not topping the wicket charts, Bumrah made pivotal contributions with crucial breakthroughs and an exceptional economy rate of just 4.17. He finished as the third-highest wicket-taker with 15 dismissals and was honored as the Player of the Tournament.
Notably, Bumrah’s standout performances included being named Player of the Match in India’s opening encounters against Ireland and Pakistan. His impactful bowling continued into the semifinal and final matches, where he delivered vital spells to help secure India’s victory over South Africa in the championship match.
During a recent interaction with fans, Dinesh Karthik discussed Jasprit Bumrah’s pivotal role in India’s championship victory. Reflecting on his commentary during the tournament, Karthik likened Bumrah’s value to being more precious than the Kohinoor diamond. He went on to acclaim Bumrah as the finest all-format bowler globally and described him as a captain’s ideal asset.
“When I was on air, I said he is more valuable than a Kohinoor diamond. Genuinely he is the greatest all-format bowler at the moment in world cricket. Under pressure to come and keep performing time and time again, not many can do that,” said Karthik in a video posted by Cricbuzz.
He’s a captain’s dream, someone who wins at any stage, any play of the match, that’s what makes him so special. Brilliant, fantabulous, that’s the word for him,” he added.
