England captain Jos Buttler led his team to the T20 World Cup semi-finals with an unbeaten 83 off 38 balls against co-hosts USA in Barbados. His superb innings included seven sixes, with two of them coming in consecutive deliveries off USA’s left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar in the third over of the match. Buttler’s aggressive batting ensured England chased down the target in 18.4 overs, securing a spot in the semis and improving their net run rate above South Africa’s. The highlights of Buttler’s innings were shared by Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter).
In the third over’s fourth delivery, Jos Buttler smashed a magnificent shot that sailed over the sightscreen and landed on the roof. Without hesitation, he followed up on the next ball with a one-handed stroke that cleared the wide long-on region for another six.
Throughout his innings, Buttler continued his aggressive batting, particularly during the ninth over bowled by USA’s Harmeet Singh. In that over, Buttler unleashed a barrage of five sixes. He started by hitting four consecutive sixes and concluded the over with another maximum off the final delivery, securing England’s comprehensive victory.
โWe paid USA a lot of respect, but we talked a lot about our intensity and if we thought if we took it on the field weโd be too good. You have to got to earn the right to begin with, start well and once we got through a few overs we decided to target this side with the wind,โ Jos Buttler said as per BBC.
English fast bowler Chris Jordan stood out as the standout performer in the bowling department, finishing with outstanding figures of 4 for 10 in 2.5 overs against the USA. Jordan’s exceptional performance included claiming a hat-trick, marking a historic first for England in men’s T20 International cricket. The USA batting lineup was dismissed for a meager total of 115 runs in 18.5 overs.
