A viral video showing Vinod Kambli struggling to walk has stunned netizens, with the former cricketer appearing disoriented and in poor health. Fans, deeply concerned for Kambli, have reached out to his close friend and Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, seeking his assistance.
While Cricketnext has not independently verified the video’s authenticity or confirmed whether it features Kambli, multiple media sources suggest that the individual being assisted in the footage is indeed Kambli.
Kambli has faced significant health challenges in the past, including a cardiac incident in 2013 while driving in Mumbai. The previous year, he underwent angioplasty for two blocked arteries.
Despite these struggles, Kambli’s cricketing prowess is well remembered, particularly during his standout years alongside the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Their dynamic partnership remains legendary, with the duo dismantling numerous bowling attacks during their prime.
Sachin-Kambli friendship
Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli, childhood friends from Mumbai, were both mentored by the late Ramakant Achrekar and went on to make their mark on international cricket.
Sachin made his debut in November 1989 against Pakistan, while Kambli first represented India in an ODI in Sharjah in 1991. Over his career, Kambli played 104 ODIs, accumulating 2,477 runs at an average of 32.59, including 14 half-centuries and two centuries. He also appeared in 17 Test matches, scoring 1,084 runs at an impressive average of 54.20, with four centuries and three fifties.
Sachin Tendulkar, who retired in 2013, is celebrated as a cricketing icon, having amassed over 34,000 international runs and achieving 100 centuries across 200 Tests and 463 ODIs.
