Sanju Samson’s streak of misfortune in international cricket persisted as he fell without scoring in the ongoing third T20I clash between India and Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Despite his recent standout century against South Africa in India’s previous ODI series, Samson found himself omitted from the upcoming ODI squad against Sri Lanka, a decision that sparked controversy and disappointment among fans and former cricketers rallying behind him.
In the T20I series, Samson finally got his chance but failed to capitalize. Initially left out of the playing eleven in the first match, he was included in the second game as an opener, yet his innings was short-lived as he was bowled for a golden duck by Maheesh Theekshana.
Given another opportunity in the ongoing third T20I, this time batting at his preferred number three position, Samson once again failed to make an impact, falling for a four-ball duck to Chamindu Wickramasinghe.

The troubles compounded for India as they lost Rinku Singh and captain Suryakumar Yadav within the powerplay overs.
