In preparation for the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated major renovations at all three venues, including the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, to enhance the facilities.
This will mark the first time Pakistan hosts an ICC event since the 1996 World Cup. Although Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup last year, not all matches could be played in the country as India chose to play their games in Sri Lanka.
With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 set to take place in Pakistan, the PCB is making significant upgrades to ensure the venues in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi are ready for the tournament.
Renovation Work Commences at Gaddafi Stadium in Preparation for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
According to Pakistani media reports, construction has officially commenced at Gaddafi Stadium as part of extensive renovations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The recent updates include the demolition of the stadium’s main secretariat building to align with ICC hosting standards.
The Dawn reported that the recently renovated PCB Chairman’s office, along with 12 other executive rooms, will also be dismantled.
Pakistani journalist Umar Farooq Kalson revealed that the renovation project will feature a new pavilion complete with dressing rooms, hospitality boxes, and premium seating. Additionally, a large LED video screen will be installed. A new five-story office building is also part of the project, which is set to be completed within five months.
“Project to enhance Gaddafi Stadium Lahore includes constructing a new pavilion building with players’ dressing rooms, hospitality boxes, and premium seating. Additionally, a new LED video screen with a scoreboard will be installed, and a new office building (five floors) will be constructed. The project has already started and is set to be completed in five months,” Kalson wrote on X.
The PCB is under significant time pressure to finalize renovations at all three venues before the ICC Champions Trophy, set to take place from February 19 to March 10.
Reports indicate that the ICC has already distributed the draft schedule to the eight participating teams. Prior to the Champions Trophy, Pakistan will also host New Zealand and South Africa for a tri-series.
