When Gautam Gambhir took over as the head coach of Team India, there were concerns that his appointment might stir trouble in the dressing room due to his strained history with Virat Kohli. The two cricketers had clashed multiple times over the years, and their last confrontation, which involved a heated argument and required intervention from other players, was fresh in everyone’s memory.
Given this background, it was natural for people to worry about potential friction between Gambhir and Kohli. However, these anxieties have been quickly dispelled. Recent photos of the two former teammates laughing and enjoying each other’s company have circulated widely. In one particular image, Gambhir appears to be in fits of laughter following a comment from Kohli, putting any concerns about their relationship to rest.
Another video has recently emerged, confirming that all is well between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. In this trending clip, Gambhir and Kohli are seen engaged in a focused discussion in the dressing room during the first ODI against Sri Lanka on August 2. Kohli, still in his gear with pads, helmet, and gloves, attentively listens to his new head coach, showcasing a productive and positive interaction between them.

Last month, Gambhir addressed his relationship with Kohli, clarifying that it wasn’t as publicized as some might think. The former India opener expressed that he and Kohli maintain a positive and respectful relationship.
“Good for TRP. My relationship is not public. It’s a relationship between two mature individuals. On the field, I am sure we have got to be on the same page. I share a very good relationship with him,” Gambhir had said in his first press conference as India head coach.
In the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, the latter concluded their innings at 230/8. Despite struggling at 101/5 at one point, a resilient unbeaten fifty from Dimuth Wellalage enabled Sri Lanka to set a competitive total.
At the time of writing this report, India was 152/5 in the 32nd over. The Indian innings began well with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill forming a solid partnership of 75 runs for the first wicket. However, Sri Lanka quickly dismissed both openers and made a comeback by taking three more wickets, tightening their grip on the game.
