Gautam Gambhir, India’s newly appointed head coach, expressed optimism about having Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma available for the 2027 World Cup, provided they maintain their fitness levels.
Addressing the media in his inaugural press conference as head coach, the former Indian opener emphasized that both Kohli and Rohit still have a substantial amount of cricket ahead of them.
He noted that despite their retirement from T20Is following the triumphant T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, their experience and abilities could significantly benefit India’s campaign in the upcoming World Cup.
Gautam Gambhir was asked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in his first presser and he said, “They have shown what they can deliver on the big stage. Both have a lot of cricket left in them. The Champions Trophy, if they keep their fitness then even the 2027 World Cup. Looking at what they can deliver, they are still world-class and any team would want to have both of them.”
