Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir shared his top three moments from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Among them, he highlighted Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s impressive streak of six consecutive victories.
Gautam Gambhir played a pivotal role as the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders, leading them to their third IPL title. His strategic guidance significantly contributed to the team’s dominant performance throughout the tournament.
Joining KKR ahead of IPL 2024 proved to be a fruitful move, with Gambhir’s leadership instilling a fearless mindset among the players, resulting in their outstanding achievements. With nine wins in the league stage and commanding victories in the playoffs, KKR’s success was a testament to Gambhir’s influence.

Alongside RCB’s resurgence, he praised the partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, as well as Mayank Yadav’s remarkable bowling spell. For those unfamiliar, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma formed a dynamic opening partnership that struck fear into bowlers throughout the IPL. Their explosive performances for Sunrisers Hyderabad wreaked havoc on opposing bowling attacks, dominating the league with their remarkable synergy at the crease.
Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav showcased his prowess in two crucial matches against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where his pace troubled opposing batters. Consistently hitting speeds of 155 kmph, Yadav caught the attention of many spectators. His impactful bowling performances, taking three wickets in each game, turned the tide in favor of Lucknow Super Giants, rescuing them from precarious situations and securing victories.
On the flip side, Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced a challenging start to the season, managing just one win in their first eight games and languishing at the bottom of the table. However, a remarkable turnaround saw them win six consecutive matches, propelling them into the playoffs. Despite their valiant efforts, they were eventually eliminated in the Eliminator round against Rajasthan Royals.

Gautam Gambhir also talked about his relationship with Virat Kohli. He said that the relationship between them is not for the country to know. He elaborated:
“The perception is far away from the reality. My relationship with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn’t need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to public.”
Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have had their fair share of tense moments on the cricket field in the past. However, during a strategic timeout in an IPL 2024 match between RCB and KKR, the two surprised many by embracing each other in a warm hug.
