Nineteen Indian women cricketers have put their names forward for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) draft, set to take place on Sunday (September 1). Notable players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma are among those participating, while Smriti Mandhana has already signed with the Adelaide Strikers for WBBL 10.
This comes after 80 players, including 11 women from Pakistan, were nominated for the Big Bash League draft, highlighting the tournament’s global attraction and competitive edge.
Mandhana, set to join her fourth WBBL team, has been signed pre-draft by the Adelaide Strikers, a two-time WBBL champion. She has previously played for the Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, and Sydney Thunder.
“I always look forward to playing in Australia, and I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to a team with a history of success like the Strikers,” Mandhana said. “I’m thrilled to continue working with Luke. Our previous experiences together have been so rewarding, and I’m looking forward to building on that.”
