Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended a warm tribute to Yuzvendra Chahal, the celebrated spinner of Team India, in recognition of their triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup last month. The felicitation ceremony, held on Thursday, underscored India’s exhilarating victory over South Africa in the final match, marking a historic ninth win for the nation in the T20 World Cup. This momentous achievement not only ended India’s 17-year wait for the T20 World Cup but also broke an 11-year drought for an ICC trophy.
Following their return to the country, the team received resounding acclaim from their compatriots. The celebrations included a special audience with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and a triumphant parade in Mumbai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also honored the victorious squad at the Wankhede Stadium.
The jubilation extended to the players’ respective states, where they were lauded by local authorities. Recently, chief ministers from Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh honored their respective state players who contributed to the World Cup victory.
Adding to this wave of recognition, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini bestowed Chahal with a shawl and an idol during a felicitation at his official residence. CM Saini captured this proud moment and shared glimpses on his official social media account, expressing his congratulations to the talented bowler on this remarkable achievement.
“Yuzvendra Chahal has inspired countless youth from Haryana and across the country to take up cricket and make a career in the sports.
“Congratulations and best wishes to him and the entire Indian team for this glorious victory,” he added.
Kuldeep over Yuzvendra Chahal:
Despite being part of India’s T20 World Cup squad, Yuzvendra Chahal did not feature in any matches, as Kuldeep Yadav was preferred for all five games in the Caribbean. Kuldeep’s performance justified the selection, claiming 10 wickets with an economy rate of 6.95.
Prior to the T20 World Cup, Chahal had a commendable IPL campaign, securing 18 wickets and aiding Rajasthan Royals in reaching the playoffs. Fans can anticipate seeing Chahal in action later this month as India prepares to tour Sri Lanka for three T20Is and as many ODIs.
