Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli is reportedly facing severe health challenges. A distressing video has emerged showing Kambli struggling to walk, causing concern and alarm among cricket fans.
In the footage, Kambli is seen struggling to stay upright, relying on a motorbike parked by the roadside for support. Onlookers quickly came to his aid, assisting him to his intended location. The video, shared by media personality Narendra Gupta on social media, has sparked widespread concern for Kambli’s well-being.
“Former cricketer Vinod Kambli is battling poor health. Vinod Kambli, a former Indian cricketer, has been open about his struggles with health issues and personal problems in recent years.
“He has been hospitalized several times due to various health concerns, including heart problems and depression. I hope he recovers soon and gets the support he needs!” wrote Gupta.
This isn’t the first instance where Vinod Kambli’s health has drawn attention. In 2013, he was hospitalized at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after experiencing a heart attack while driving from Chembur to Bandra. Prior to that, in 2012, Kambli had undergone angioplasty to address blockages in two of his arteries.
Vinod Kambli’s career
Vinod Kambli first captured the spotlight as a teenager with his record-breaking 664-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar in a school match in 1988. At 17, Kambli was the senior partner, while Tendulkar was just 16.
Kambli made his international debut in ODIs in 1991, followed by his Test debut in 1993. He quickly made a name for himself by scoring consecutive double centuries against England in his third and fourth Test matches. Despite this promising start, he struggled to maintain his early form.
In his career, Kambli played 104 ODIs and 17 Tests for India. In ODIs, he amassed 2,477 runs, including two centuries and 14 fifties. In Test cricket, he accumulated over 1,000 runs with four centuries and three half-centuries.
