Jasprit Bumrah shone brightly for India with his bowling prowess, pivotal in their victory over South Africa to claim their second T20 World Cup title in the 2024 final on Saturday.

Following the historic win, jubilant scenes unfolded on the pitch as Indian players celebrated fervently. Amidst the celebrations, television presenter Sanjana Ganesan interviewed her husband Bumrah, who expressed the significance of winning the trophy with his young son watching. The interview concluded with a heartfelt hug between Bumrah and his wife.

Bumrah’s exceptional performance made history as he became the first pure bowler to be named Player of the Tournament in such a prestigious event. Reflecting on this remarkable achievement, the right-arm pacer shared his thoughts with the broadcaster, emphasizing the immense significance of the victory to him personally.

“I tried to keep calm. We play the sport for this, I am really over the moon, my son is here, family is here, and we’ve been working really hard towards this, no better feeling than that. We play sports to win on the big stages,” Bumrah said.

“On the big day, you have to give more. Throughout the tournament, I felt very clear and calm. At my peak mindset, I think of one ball at a time. The emotions can take over, but now the job is done. That over, I thought length ball was the option, it was reverse-swinging, and I was glad to execute (it),” Bumrah told the reporters in the post-game conference.

Bumrah’s performance in the tournament was exceptional, highlighted by his achievement of taking 15 wickets across eight games with an impressive economy rate of 4.26. His pivotal role extended to the final match, where he delivered a standout final over in the 18th, conceding just two runs and dismissing Marco Jansen at a crucial juncture.

Captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged the outstanding contributions of his premier fast bowler in the post-match interview.

“Jasprit, I understand you guys trying to put it into words, but I don’t know how he does it, it’s just a masterclass. He backs his skills which is more than enough and is a confident lad. Class act,” said Rohit Sharma while talking about his side.
