The Indian cricket team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma is preparing for the next phase, the Super-8 stage, of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean Islands. They have demonstrated their formidable prowess in the initial round of the tournament held in the USA, establishing themselves as one of the most formidable teams globally.
Nevertheless, Team India’s last Group A match against Canada cricket team was abandoned due to rain in Florida. Despite this, Rohit Sharma and his team ensured a thrilling spectacle for American spectators and cricket fans worldwide with their outstanding performance in the initial phase of the ICC mega event held in the USA.
India is set for the Super-8 stage of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after a commanding performance in Group A. They began their campaign with an emphatic 8-wicket victory over Ireland on June 5 in New York, followed by a dramatic 6-run win against Pakistan in a thrilling contest. The Men in Blue secured their place in the Super-8s by defeating co-hosts USA by seven wickets in New York. As the tournament moves to the West Indies, India aims to maintain their momentum into the next phase, which kicks off on June 19 with USA taking on South Africa in Antigua.
Team India is gearing up for challenging Super-8 matches in the West Indies during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Their first encounter in this stage will be against Afghanistan, a team that has been in exceptional form in the group stage, topping Group C with an unbeaten record. Afghanistan’s final group game against co-hosts West Indies is scheduled for June 18.
India, who finished at the top of Group A, will meet Afghanistan led by Rashid Khan in their opening Super-8 match on June 20 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. This promises to be an exciting match-up between two teams known for their strong bowling line-ups and current form.
Moving to Antigua, the Indian team will face Bangladesh, the second-ranked team from Group D, on June 22 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Bangladesh performed impressively in the group stage, winning three out of their four matches to progress to the Super-8s.
India’s final Super-8 fixture will be against Australia on June 24 at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia. Australia has been a formidable opponent, having defeated India in recent major finals. This match holds significant stakes as only one team from the Super-8s will advance to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2024.
With previous heartbreaks fresh in memory, India will be eager to reverse their fortunes against Australia and progress in the tournament.
In the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, the teams are divided into two groups:
Group 1 comprises India (A1), Australia (B2), Afghanistan (C1), and Bangladesh (D2).
Group 2 includes USA (A2), England (B1), West Indies (C2), and South Africa (D1).
