IPL 2024: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Reveals Substantial Cash Incentives for Groundskeepers and Curators Across All 13 Tournament Venues

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced significant monetary rewards for the dedication and hard work shown by the groundsmen and curators throughout the recently concluded IPL 2024 season. The tournament concluded with KKR securing victory over SRH in the final match held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 26.

In a statement, Shah expressed gratitude towards the efforts of the ground staff and unveiled the rewards. He disclosed that groundsmen at the ten main venues will receive Rs 25 lakhs each as a gesture of appreciation. Additionally, he declared a reward of Rs 10 lakhs each for the ground staff at the other three venues located in Guwahati, Dharamsala, and Vizag.

“The unsung heroes of our successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions. As a token of our appreciation, the groundsmen and curators at the 10 regular IPL venues will receive INR 25 lakhs each, and the same at the 3 additional venues will get INR 10 lakhs each. Thank you for your dedication and hard work!” Shah wrote.

Run-rich IPL

IPL 2024 witnessed an abundance of runs, with all ten teams relishing their time with the bat. Records crumbled across the tournament as pitches proved to be exceptionally favorable for batting. Despite falling short of clinching the title, SRH etched their name in history by posting the highest team score of 287 for 3 in an IPL match. This feat was achieved during their encounter against Faf du Plessis’ RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last month.

Before their remarkable performance against RCB, SRH had already showcased their batting prowess by amassing a formidable total of 277 for 3 against MI in Hyderabad. Despite PBKS falling short of the playoffs, they left an indelible mark on IPL history by orchestrating the highest successful run-chase ever recorded in the tournament, chasing down a daunting 262 against the Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The IPL 2024 season saw an astounding 1260 sixes being struck, marking a new record for the most sixes in a single IPL season. DC’s Jake Fraser-McGurk made headlines twice by registering half-centuries off just 15 balls. Even amidst the batting fireworks, bowlers found moments of triumph, with stalwarts like Sunil Narine and Jasprit Bumrah showcasing their mastery with impeccable accuracy.
