Run-rich IPL
IPL 2024 witnessed an abundance of runs, with all ten teams relishing their time with the bat. Records crumbled across the tournament as pitches proved to be exceptionally favorable for batting. Despite falling short of clinching the title, SRH etched their name in history by posting the highest team score of 287 for 3 in an IPL match. This feat was achieved during their encounter against Faf du Plessis’ RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last month.
Before their remarkable performance against RCB, SRH had already showcased their batting prowess by amassing a formidable total of 277 for 3 against MI in Hyderabad. Despite PBKS falling short of the playoffs, they left an indelible mark on IPL history by orchestrating the highest successful run-chase ever recorded in the tournament, chasing down a daunting 262 against the Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The IPL 2024 season saw an astounding 1260 sixes being struck, marking a new record for the most sixes in a single IPL season. DC’s Jake Fraser-McGurk made headlines twice by registering half-centuries off just 15 balls. Even amidst the batting fireworks, bowlers found moments of triumph, with stalwarts like Sunil Narine and Jasprit Bumrah showcasing their mastery with impeccable accuracy.
