During the 2024 T20 World Cup co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA, a tragic incident occurred involving former India allrounder Irfan Pathan’s makeup artist, who was found dead in a West Indies swimming pool.
Irfan Pathan had brought Fayaz Ansari, his personal makeup artist, along for the tournament where he is part of the commentary panel. The circumstances surrounding Fayaz’s death remain unclear as authorities investigate.
Irfan Pathan is personally managing the arrangements to repatriate Fayaz’s body to India. The family plans to receive Fayaz’s remains in Delhi, a process expected to take three to four days.
Fayaz Ansari, originally from Mohalla Qazi Sarai in Nagina Tehsil, Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, is a makeup artist based in Mumbai for the past 22 years. He became associated with Irfan Pathan when Pathan started visiting his salon for makeup services.
Gradually, Pathan began including Ansari in his international travels, including the T20 World Cup 2024, where Ansari accompanied him as his personal makeup artist.
Tragically, news of Ansari’s drowning in a hotel swimming pool in the West Indies emerged on Friday evening (June 21). His cousin, Mohammad Ahmed, shared that Ansari had recently married in Bijnor just two months ago and had moved to Mumbai eight months prior. The sudden loss has deeply affected his family, leaving his wife and relatives inconsolable.
Irfan Pathan is currently part of the Star Sports commentary team, providing coverage in both English and Hindi languages.
The T20 World Cup 2024 is currently in its decisive phase, hosted jointly by the West Indies and the USA. The tournament’s Super 8 stage, semifinals, and final will be held exclusively in the West Indies.
Presently, the focus is on the remaining Super 8 matches. The first fixture will feature India against Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia. This match carries significant importance as Australia faces a must-win situation, while India, though in a strong position, must secure their own qualification without any setbacks.
Simultaneously, the final Super 8 match will see Afghanistan take on Bangladesh. This encounter is crucial for Afghanistan, who must secure a victory to advance to the semi-finals. Afghanistan recently achieved a historic win over Australia, adding to their momentum for this pivotal match.
The tournament’s semi-finals will be hosted in Trinidad and Guyana, with the grand final of the T20 World Cup 2024 set to take place in Barbados.
