Darren Jason Watkins Jr., widely recognized as IShowSpeed or simply Speed on YouTube, is a well-known enthusiast of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. The popular online personality has consistently shown his admiration for the 35-year-old cricket star. Recently, Speed had the opportunity to introduce the former Indian captain to Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
During their interaction, the 19-year-old engaged in a light-hearted conversation with the former AC Milan and Manchester United striker, discussing Kohli. In a video that has gained significant attention online, Speed can be heard asking Ibrahimovic with a touch of humor, “Do you know Virat Kohli?”
Ibrahimovic confessed his unfamiliarity with Virat Kohli, prompting IShowSpeed to show the Swedish footballer a picture of the Indian cricketer. Even then, Ibrahimovic couldn’t place him, much to Speed’s surprise. In disbelief, Speed exclaimed, “You don’t know Virat Kohli? You never seen him before?” Responding to this, Ibrahimovic said, “I have never seen cricket in my life. Not being disrespectful, but no.”
IShowSpeed then went on to add, “He’s a GOAT (greatest of all time). He’s the GOAT.” Noticing IShowSpeed’s interest in the game, Zlatan curiously asked, “So you like cricket also?” To which IShowSpeed replied, “Yes, I do. He’s the GOAT in different aspect.”
IShowSpeed had a reminiscent encounter with legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo Nazario in the past. In a similar fashion, Speed showed a picture of Virat Kohli and remarked, “He is the best; he is better than Babar Azam.” Having seen the picture, Ronaldo instantly identified the Indian stalwart. This impressed Speed, who remarked in sheer ecstasy, “Yeah, he is the GOAT.”
IShowSpeed made an appearance at Nassau County in New York for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan last month. Sporting a Team India jersey in the stands, Speed was visibly disheartened as he watched Kohli return to the dressing room after scoring just four runs off three balls.
Despite that, India prevailed in that match, led by Rohit Sharma, clinching victory by a margin of six runs. The Indian cricket squad maintained an undefeated streak throughout the T20 World Cup, ultimately defeating South Africa in the final to secure their second title.
