Jasprit Bumrah has praised his India skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup final clash against South Africa this Saturday. Bumrah has featured in 51 games under Rohit’s captaincy across different formats, claiming a total of 112 wickets.

Meanwhile, Rohit, who serves as India’s opener, has amassed 248 runs from 7 matches in the current World Cup, placing him third among the tournament’s leading run-scorers.

“Rohit Sharma has been absolutely phenomenal,” Bumrah said in a video shared by ICC. “Even in the previous World Cup you know, he has been proactive, he gives a lot of freedom to his players, he lets the players express themselves.”

“When he feels the right time, he shares his own experience during the match. So ya, it feels really great and I feel very happy playing under him and the confidence of the group is also very high,” Bumrah added.

Saturday marks Rohit Sharma’s third opportunity in just over a year to clinch a World Cup title as captain of India. Last year, he led the team to the finals of both the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup, narrowly missing out on victory against Australia in both instances. India’s quest for an ICC title has continued since their last triumph in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Both India and South Africa have maintained unbeaten records in the current competition. While this is India’s third appearance in a T20 World Cup final, South Africa is making their debut in a world cup title match.

The final will take place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, with rain forecasted during the match. To accommodate the unpredictable weather, organizers have allocated extra time on Saturday to ensure a conclusive result. If needed, a reserve day on June 30 has also been scheduled.
