Joginder Sharma, known for delivering the decisive final over in the 2007 T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan in Johannesburg on September 24, 2007, recently had a heartening reunion with his former captain, MS Dhoni.
Now serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Haryana, Joginder took to Instagram on Friday to share a post featuring snapshots of his meet-up with Dhoni.
“It was nice to meet MS Dhoni after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today,” read the caption of the post shared by Joginder.
The video, posted by the former Indian pacer, also featured a line that read, “Good to see you Mahi after very long time.”
The post was enhanced by the backdrop of the Bollywood classic “Ae Yaar Sun Yaari Teri,” which beautifully underscored the enduring camaraderie between Dhoni and Joginder.
Dhoni had placed his faith in Joginder to bowl the crucial final over of the 2007 T20 World Cup against Pakistan, and Joginder delivered by dismissing Misbah-ul-Haq, securing a memorable victory for India.
Joginder Sharma’s international career spanned three years, during which he featured in four ODIs and four T20Is for India. He made his T20I debut against England in Durban, and his final match in the format was the 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan.
Throughout his career, Joginder accumulated 35 runs and one wicket in ODIs, and claimed four wickets in T20Is.
In addition to his international stint, Joginder played in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, contributing to the team’s title victories in 2010 and 2011.
