The owner of SRH stepped up to provide a crucial morale boost to the team following their defeat against KKR in the IPL 2024 final. It was a tough blow for the SunRisers as they endured a crushing loss by 8 wickets at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26, Sunday. The franchise’s official social media account shared a touching video showcasing Kavya’s address to the team’s dressing room, aiming to uplift their spirits.
During her speech, Kavya expressed her immense pride in the team’s remarkable achievement of surpassing batting records this season, despite facing conventional challenges. She also extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Pat Cummins-led side for their journey to the final, especially considering their previous position at the bottom of the table in IPL 2023.
“You all have made us so proud. I had to come here and tell you that. I mean you have redefined the way we play T20 cricket and everyone is talking about us. The off-day had to happen today, but a really great job, all of you with the bat and ball. Thank you so much,” Kavya said.
And I think even though we finished last place last year, I think all the fans came out in huge numbers because of the potential you guys had. Everyone’s talking about us and even though KKR won, I am sure everyone’s still going to be talking about the style of cricket we have played. Thank you guys, take care and don’t look like this. We played the final, it wasn’t just any other game. I mean all the other teams have been watching us tonight. Thank you guys, I will see you soon,” Kavya added.
SRH’s night turned into a daunting ordeal.

Witnessing SRH’s defeat to KKR left the team’s owner overcome with emotion, shedding tears during the one-sided match. Throughout the season, Kavya remained a stalwart supporter, appearing at nearly every match to rally behind her team.
SRH’s woes culminated in the lowest-ever IPL final total, with KKR’s bowlers restricting them to a mere 113 runs. Swiftly, KKR’s batters chased down the target of 114 runs in just 11 overs, securing the coveted IPL title.
