Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul showered praise on Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting his exceptional performances in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, particularly against Pakistan. Bumrah has been in top form, claiming five wickets across three matches.
Despite not registering high wicket counts, Bumrah’s economy rate has been outstanding in the T20 World Cup 2024. He was instrumental in India’s victories over Ireland and Pakistan, earning consecutive Player of the Match awards. However, Bumrah remained wicketless in the match against the USA.
KL Rahul praises Jasprit Bumrah as a cornerstone of Indian cricket during the T20 World Cup 2024. After Bumrah’s standout performance against Pakistan, where he was hailed as a national treasure, Rahul echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Bumrah’s unmatched impact for India across all formats.
Rahul lauds Bumrah as a champion cricketer and describes him as a national asset for India, highlighting his consistent excellence at the highest level of the sport.
In a statement to Times Now, KL Rahul expressed his admiration for Bumrah’s contribution to Indian cricket. “He is a champion cricketer and he has proved it right from when he started playing cricket at the highest level. He is a national treasure, no doubt about it and what he does, and what he brings to the team hasn’t been matched in a long time by anybody else in world cricket, he also keeps growing from strength to strength and he’s a tough competitor and I’ve seen him and played with him for so many years.”
Having shared the field with him for numerous years, Rahul has witnessed Bumrah’s consistent evolution and unwavering competitiveness. He also recognized Bumrah’s relentless commitment to enhance his skills and his unwavering resolve to secure victories for the team.
KL Rahul said Jasprit Bumrah is hungry to keep getting better
Rahul emphasized that the Indian cricket team’s shared goal is to clinch the T20 World Cup title, driven by the lingering disappointment of narrowly losing the ODI World Cup 2023 to Australia last year.
KL Rahul added “I know how hungry he is to keep getting better, how hungry he is to win games for his team and everyone has the World Cup in the back of the head and they want to be able to, have that feeling of lifting the cup. We just barely missed out in November, which was very painful for all of us, but I am sure some of that experience and some of that pain from not being able to win the World Cup in November will be used by some of the players to push that much harder and try and go one step ahead and bring the cup home.”
Rahul is confident that Bumrah will be instrumental in the Men in Blue’s T20 World Cup 2024 journey. He expressed optimism about Bumrah’s ability to maintain his stellar performances in the long run, as long as he remains fit and continues to play a crucial role in securing victories for India on the international stage.
He said, “Bumrah is one of the main players for India and a lot rest on his shoulders in this tournament, and yeah, I am hoping he can continue to do what he is doing, not just in the first two games, but for years to come, stay fit and win games of cricket for the country.”
India has secured a spot in the Super-8 stage of the current T20 World Cup 2024 after a commanding seven-wicket victory over the USA in their third Group A encounter on June 12. They now stand alongside Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies in the Super 8s phase of the competition.
