The news of Mbappe’s decision to join Los Blancos broke just days after Real Madrid secured their historic 15th Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
As the club celebrated this milestone, they were also preparing to say goodbye to several iconic figures, including Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Nacho Fernandez.
The long-awaited signing of the superstar striker has finally become a reality.
Reports indicate that the French talisman will earn approximately 15 million euros annually with Real Madrid, translating to around 160.8 crore rupees per year according to ESPN.
Breaking it down, this means Mbappe will make about 13.4 crores per month, roughly 3 crores per week, or around 42 lakhs per day. This equates to just over 2916 rupees per minute during his time at the club.
Despite the impressive figures, this salary is reportedly lower than what he might have earned at his previous club, PSG. Nevertheless, it still dwarfs the earnings of cricketing superstars in India.
Even the top names in the IPL, like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who each rake in over 7 crore rupees annually from their BCCI contracts alone, fall short in comparison.
For several recent IPL seasons, Virat Kohli was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a hefty salary of 17 crore rupees per season, while former MI captain Rohit Sharma earned around 16 crores per season.
Together, the annual earnings of these two cricketing giants still pale in comparison to Mbappe’s income. The French forward, now with Real Madrid, is aiming for Champions League success.
Mbappe, who has taken on the number 9 jersey previously worn by Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, is set to make a significant impact at the club.
The 25-year-old French star shines on the left wing, a position currently filled by the 23-year-old Vinícius. On the opposite flank, 23-year-old Rodrygo often takes his place but has recently hinted at the possibility of leaving Madrid if he feels he’s not contributing meaningfully to the team.
Ultimately, this is a dilemma that any club would consider a stroke of good fortune, both literally and figuratively. It’s a challenge that the experienced Ancelotti will undoubtedly relish, as Real Madrid continues to bolster their squad with more ‘Galacticos’ without missing a beat.
