The upcoming Lanka Premier League 2024 is set to kick off in July, with the countdown already underway for its commencement on July 1st. Similar to India’s IPL, the Lanka Premier League is a prominent franchise-based T20 cricket tournament held annually in Sri Lanka.
This year, the tournament features five teams: B-Love Kandy, Galle Marvels, Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Sixers, and Jaffna Kings. These teams will compete fiercely for the coveted LPL 2024 Trophy.
The opening match is scheduled between B-Love Kandy and Dambulla Sixers on July 1st at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The tournament will culminate with the LPL 2024 final on July 21st, which will be held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Featuring a mix of foreign and domestic talent, the tournament comes on the heels of Sri Lanka’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where they failed to advance beyond the league stage.
