Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan surged up the ICC Test rankings following a standout performance against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Rizwan’s unbeaten 171 was pivotal in setting a strong first-innings total despite early losses. This exceptional innings propelled him to a career-high 10th position, climbing seven spots in the rankings.
However, it wasn’t as favorable for his teammate Babar Azam, who dropped from third to ninth after struggling in both innings against Bangladesh. Azam now holds a slim lead of just six rating points over Rizwan.
Saud Shakeel also saw a rise in the rankings, reaching 13th place following his century. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, with a 191-run innings, achieved a career-best ranking, moving up seven places to 17th.
Apart from Mohammad Rizwan, Harry Brook makes a gain in ICC Test rankings
Players from the England vs Sri Lanka first Test received notable boosts in the ICC rankings. English batter Harry Brook emerged as a significant mover, thanks to his crucial half-century and scores of 56 and 32 at Old Trafford. Brook climbed three positions to fourth overall, surpassing Babar Azam, Steve Smith, and Rohit Sharma.
Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis also saw improvements, moving up to 23rd and 36th positions, respectively. England’s Jamie Smith made a notable leap, advancing 22 spots to 42nd.
In the ICC Test bowler rankings, Chris Woakes rose four places to 16th, and Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando climbed ten spots to 17th. Naseem Shah reached 33rd place, while England’s Gus Atkinson moved up four spots to 42nd.
The ICC T20I rankings experienced significant shifts following the West Indies vs South Africa series. Nicholas Pooran advanced three places to ninth, Shai Hope surged 32 spots to 40th, and South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks moved up four spots to 13th.
In T20I bowling, Akeal Hosein improved by four places to second, while Gudakesh Motie gained ten spots to secure the third position.
