Michael Vaughan predicts a competitive clash in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final between India and South Africa, set for Saturday (June 29) in Barbados.
Both teams have maintained flawless records throughout the tournament. South Africa secured victories in all their group stage matches against Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Nepal. In the Super 8s, they continued their winning streak by defeating USA, England, and West Indies, culminating in a historic semifinal win over Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, India has showcased dominance with comprehensive wins against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA in the group stage. In the Super 8s, they maintained their unbeaten streak by defeating Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Australia. Their semifinal triumph over England by 68 runs secured their spot in the T20 World Cup final for the third time and the first since 2014.
As both sides vie for victory, South Africa aims to clinch their maiden World Cup title, while India seeks to add to their 2007 inaugural triumph in the tournament.
Just an hour before the India-South Africa final, Michael Vaughan shared his prediction on X. The former England captain favored India, citing their strength to overpower South Africa in Barbados. Vaughan also backed Virat Kohli to overcome his struggles and score a half-century for Team India.
“My feeling is India will be too strong for SA in Barbados .. Virat for a 50 and India to win is my prediction,” wrote Michael Vaughan.
