Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were bestowed with honorary life memberships by the MIG Cricket Club in recognition of their contributions to India’s victorious campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The MIG Cricket Club, known for nurturing talent and boasting illustrious members like Sachin Tendulkar, has become a second home to many cricketers. Among them, Hardik Pandya and his brother Krunal have settled in Mumbai, residing in Bandra and frequently utilizing the club’s facilities for their training.
The club’s tradition of honoring exceptional sports personalities extends beyond cricket, encompassing figures such as KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, and former cricketers Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, Nilesh Kulkarni, and Subroto Banerjee. Additionally, notable individuals from other sports realms, like former women’s cricketer Sulakshana Naik and billiards player Kamal Chawla, have also received this prestigious recognition.
Granted Honorary Life Membership To All The Indian cricket And Billiards Players – MIG general secretary
On Saturday, the esteemed MIG Cricket Club in Bandra conferred honorary life memberships upon 14 cricketers and 1 billiards player. This special recognition highlighted their significant contributions to their respective sports. Among the club’s current life members are icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Jemimah Rodrigues.
Shrikant Shetty, the general secretary of MIG, announced the awards, emphasizing that these honorees would now enjoy privileged access to the club’s facilities, exclusive events, and opportunities for community involvement.
“MIG CC is delighted to announce that the club has granted honorary life membership to all the Indian cricket and billiards players. We are proud to extend this honorary life membership to our cricketing heroes. This prestigious recognition honours their dedication, achievements and contributions to the sport of cricket and billiards in India,” Shetty told TOI.
“Proposed by cricket secretary Akshay Borkar and seconded by general secretary Shrikant Shetty, the proposal was approved by the club’s board of trustees and the managing committee, reflecting the commitment to celebrating the excellence and legacy of Indian cricket. As honorary members, these cricketers will enjoy access to the club’s state of the art facilities, participate in exclusive events and engage with the club’s vibrant community,” he added.
Hardik Pandya emerged as a pivotal figure in India’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign across venues in the West Indies and the USA. He showcased his prowess with the bat, amassing 144 runs at an impressive average of 48.00 and a striking strike rate of 151.57. Pandya’s contributions extended to the bowling department, where he claimed 11 wickets at an average of 17.36 and maintained an economical rate of 7.64. Notably, he also led the Mumbai Indians (MI) during the IPL 2024 season, further solidifying his leadership credentials.
Suryakumar Yadav made notable contributions with the bat, accumulating 199 runs in eight matches at an average of 28.42. His crucial catch to dismiss David Miller in the final added to his impactful performance. Meanwhile, Shivam Dube, a prominent player in local cricket for MIG, scored 133 runs across eight games, averaging 22.16 during the tournament.
Despite his promising talent, Yashasvi Jaiswal did not secure a spot in the playing XI throughout the T20 World Cup.
